In the 21st Century, so-called geek culture has both conquered the mainstream and been co-opted by it. Do the old stereotypes still apply? Did they ever? And with the line between the nerds and normals becoming ever more blurry, where do we all go from here?
Join hosts Thom Bowers and R. Andru as they attempt to answer these questions while pondering the popular culture, tackling the latest tech, and celebrating the super-enthusiast within all of us.
The Geek Agenda The Geeks have inherited the Earth. Now what? Mondays 7-8 PM PST
Thom Bowers
Thom Bowers is thrilled and delighted to be using trillion-dollar DARPA technology to babble about the minutia of zombies, lightsabers, and 20-sided dice. He strongly suspects that any moment, his mother is going to wake him up and tell him that he's late for school.
A native of Salt Lake City before migrating to Los Angeles, Thom has worked as an actor, writer, musician, and various extensions thereof. In addition to his duties on The Geek Agenda, Thom can currently be heard playing bass with prog-rockers Sons Of Nothing, and on New Dissident Radio as one part of the three-headed conversational monster known as The Spoon.
His hobbies include making lists, checking them multiple times, and embracing pop culture as the one true faith.
Andru began his career in professional live theater, finding his love for story telling and production. Directing such works as “Amadeus”, “Tempest” and the critically acclaimed “Macbeth”. Moving to the west coast, Andru made the jump from live theater to Hollywood.
His multi-hyphenated career has since included producing for Universal, CBS, and Sony; Directing Zombie love stories; writing a sci-fi comic book; and producing an TechnoRock Album.
His daily vernacular includes BSoD, MST3K, ST:TNG, BSG, G1-3, and ToEE. Knows the difference between Tiamat and Takhisis, Prometheus and Ha’Tak, Red Shirt and browncoats, and he has a set of the original creation notes from Gygax’s & Arneson’s grand creation.
